Laylat al-Bara’ah – Night of Salvation
Shabaan is the 8th month of the Islamic calendar and the month in which the holy night of Shab-e-Baraat is celebrated.
Laylat al-Bara’ah – Night of Salvation
The 15th night of Shabaan is a very blessed night. According to the Hadith Sharif, the name of this Mubarak night is “Nisf Shabaan” which means 15th night of Shabaan. The reason for this special night to attain its name of Laylat al-Bara’ah, meaning the Night of Salvation, Seeking Freedom from Azaab and Calamity, is that in this night the Barkaat and acceptance of repentance may be accomplished. Laylat al-Baraa’ah in Persian, as well as in Urdu, is called Shab-e Bara’at.It is the special night of seeking forgiveness and repenting to Almighty Allah, remembering our past sins and sincerely settling the mind that one will never commits sins in the future. All the deeds that are against Shari’ah must be totally avoided so that our Du’a and Istighfaar, hopefully, will be accepted.
Muslims should check themselves and A’la Hadrat, Imam Ahmad Rida Fadil e-Bareilly (radi Allahu ta’ala anhu) has given a beautiful advise in this regard. This great Imam said: “Verily the auspicious night of Shab-e-Bara’a is drawing near when the deeds of the slave will be presented to the Almighty Allah. I humbly supplicate in the Darbar-e-Aqdas of the Almighty
Allah that through the Wasila-e-Uzma of Sayyiduna Rasoolullah (Salla Allahu alaihi wa Sallam) He forgives the sins and transgressions of all Muslims. Aameen.
“On this occasion, it should be the duty of all Sunni Muslims to forgive one another and to make sure that whatever debts owed to one another is settled. The importance of Huqooq al-Ibaad cannot be over-emphasised as this is among the pre-requisites for proper Ibaadat. I pray that all Muslims humbly remember this night and try as much as possible to perform Ibaadat and other pious deeds so that their Record of Deeds be presented in all dignity.
“Finally, I pray that the Almighty Allah assists you and I and the Muslim Ummah wherever you may be. Muslims should be aware of sincerity and honesty in all their deeds. May Almighty Allah forgive all of us. Aameen.”

ReplyDeleteThis Shabi-e-Baraa is the most worst case of Bida'ah to be propogated, there is not a single Authentic Hadith or Quranic verse which states that the you have to be in deep devotion and perform ibadah on this night (even though it's filled with waz and socializing in the masjid), and Allah the Almighty does not need you to ask forgiveness on a single night for next years sins for a PRE-DETERMINED destiny (or whatever the sufi's are saying). Where on Allah's earth does it say this??
The dua of a believer is most accepted when:
1) the one who is fasting and about to break it.
2) The one who is a traveller.
3) The one who makes dua from when he hears the Adhan to when he hears the iqaamat.
4) When he/she is in Salaat - in ruku and sujood
This night is really a social gathering as you yourself have witnessed in Bangladesh, Pakistan, India and the general sub indian continent, mainly heavily influenced by Sufi's and Shia'a.
Look at the whole Muslim world, they do not follow this bida'ah practice except for the aforementioned, it is a persian tradition which spread east towards the Indian Sub-continent.
THINK!...if the Prophet (PBUH) did not observe this insignificant night, then are you better than him in worship?? To those who do milad on that night, did he also supposedly do that to himself?? Sahaba's did not practice this deviation from Islam.
My brothers, pray and make dua EVERY night in Tahajjud, Verily Allah descends in the last 3rd of the night and asks who wants his forgiveness (Sahih Muslim, Tirmidhi).
Do not go astray and gain knowledge from the Quran and Sunnah of the Authentic Ahadith, do not let your culture or your forefathers dictate to you misguidance, as it is the errors of their ways..not yours!
I make dua that we worship Allah in the best possible and prescribed way in which our Prophet (PBUH) taught us how...Aameen.
To me it seems as if you had copied and pasted that whole thing.
DeleteYea, but in the Quran it does not say to pray, but we still pray according to hadith. Based on that logic, we should also celebrate this.
ReplyDeleteCelebrating laylait al bara'ah is a good thing, even IF we were not supposed too. We will not have sins for celebrating this occasion. YOUR ARGUMENT IS INVALID.
